I began dating my best friend on November 9, 2001. On May 19, 2012 I finally got him down the aisle, and looking back at all the wedding projects, planning, and preparation, I think I know why it took so long! Here are some of my D.I.Y. wedding projects that help create our special day.

Wedding Ring LOVE Pottery Dish
Too many times have I heard of couples losing their wedding rings. With this customizable dish our rings will always go in the same place until we put them back on our finger, where they belong.

Wedding Aisle Pomander Kissing Balls
Made using 4 inch moss covered balls, sola shell flowers, dried roses, pearls, burlap and complete with crystal ornament for added elegance and weight. Perfect compliment to any wedding aisle.

Crystal and Pearl Embellished Toasting Glasses
Made using plain glass flutes and randomly (epoxy) glued pearl and rhinestone accents which can be found in any hobby store in the scrap book section or upcycle your broken jewelry!

Wedding Brooch, Cotton, and Burlap Bouquet
There is no better way to show sentiment then by using vintage jewelry to make your bouquet. Will be a keepsake that you will treasure forever.

Monkeys Tail and Cotton Boutonniere
There is a plant called a Monkey Tail. They grow in a swirl straight from the ground! Since they do not grow in Mississippi I created my own with hemp wrapped floral wire purchased from Hobby Lobby. Also accented the bouts with pearls and natural greenery.

Bridesmaid Cotton, Crystal, and Sola Shell Flower Bouquet

Card Box for Gift Table
A string of burlap and hand painted wooden letters draped with a vintage doily and bird decor.

Mile Markers
Made using fencing wood found at any home improvement store for around $1. Mileage marked using wood pieces from craft store and topped with bow for added visibility.

Handmade Wedding Party Gifts for the ladies
Thank you gifts for those special ladies in your wedding party! Real, freshwater pearls necklace on sterling silver chain. Learn how to bead the pearls into a cluster with this Video Tutorial

Wedding Party Gift for the Guys

Guys can be hard to buy for so I bought them all black, silk ties to go with their suits on the big day and had their initials embroidered on the ends with silver to match their grey vest suits.

Burlap and Lace Table runners
Burlap can be expensive, surprisingly! I purchased a large roll from Gemplers and sewed lace trim at the ends. Gemplers also sales burlap rolls in 5 inch width that I used as ribbon for our big day! Much cheaper than buying from a craft store!!!

Wedding Shoes with Crystal, Pearl, and Feather Shoe Clips
I searched everywhere for Tiffany Blue shoes. These were the perfect blue to match our wedding and add some color beneath my dress. I ordained the shoes with shoe clips made from clip on earrings purchased for $1 and added some feathers to go with our love bird theme!

Hair Clip and Fascinator
This was what I wore after the ceremony in replace of my veil.I Bought a simple feather fascinator and added various pearls and rhinestones upcycled from broken vintage jewelry.

Russian and Tulle Bird Cage Veil
My birdcage veil was actually a headband that features Roman netting overlayed with a diamond white tulle accented with feathers and pearls. An easy DIY project for any bride!

Bridesmaid Silk and Pearl Flower Headbands
Made from the same material of their dresses. I cut several circles from the fabric and melted the edges so they would curl over a candle. I layered them, creating the flower and sewed pearls in the center, sewn to an elastic headband. The headbands were so versatile, they could be worn to suit each bridesmaids personality.

Flower Girl Muslin Dress
I owe all my sewing talent to my grandmother who taught me to make clothes at age 9. I used muslin that I gathered evenly with a separate section for the bust. I used a vintage doily crochet placemat for the bust backed with the muslin. The back is sewn and tied with a bow.

Mason Jars, The Redneck Wine Glass
Use it for candy, use it for booze, use it for anything you choose! I had everyone I knew to save all their glass jars from mayo jars to spaghetti jars. The variations in the jars only added to their appeal. I soaked the jars in hot water to remove the labels and tied them each with raffia ribbon and a tag with our custom love bird stamp.

Glue a wooden clothespin to the back of the signs for easy display.

Bride and Groom Chair Covers - Love Birds
These chair covers are actually pillow cases! The flap on the reverse of the pillow covers makes it easy fit over any chair. I had "Love" and "Birds" embroidered on each pillow and secured them with burlap bows.

Wedding Aisle Signage - Seating Sign

Today, 2 Families become 1, so don't choose a side choose a seat... Complete with 2 love birds.

Wedding Aisle Signage - Reserved Seating Sign(s)
What a better way to reserve seating for those special loved ones than with a wood burned sign?
Set of 2 hand made, wood burned RESERVED signs for sale on Etsy!

Ring Bell for A Kiss Sign
I bought an old cow bell at a thrift store and added a crystal ringer
Go ahead and ring my bell!
....................
Finally Wedding and Groom Sign
(See "Thank You" Postcards) I hand painted caricature replicas of ourselves and after eleven years of dating, no sign would be more appropriate!

Bushel Basket
A Bushel and a Peck! I painted each basket with alternating colors and added muslin sewn at the sides and hemmed with a cotton rope. Makes for a perfect lined bushel basket! We had rolls pouring from the baskets at the reception and I now use them for storage and laundry baskets.

Monogram Door Wreath - Bless Our Nest
Wooden letters can be purchased for only a few dollars from any craft store. Adhere them to a wreath and you will have the perfect door hanger for your wedding location and for your love nest!

Fish Food Tosses and Wedding Poem
We were fortunate to get married on a farm with a pond full of huge catfish. I made up individual bags of catfish food for the guests to toss after the ceremony. I made up a rhyming poem for a little personal touch.

Pottery Lace Wedding Cake Plate and Love Bird Cake Topper
Large lace pottery wedding cake plate complete with polymer clay, handformed love bird cake toppers.
Similar bird toppers are available for sale on Etsy

Bridal Dress Hanger
This is a must have! A plastic hanger can take away from your wedding dress photo. This custom hanger is easy and fun to do! Follow through on every last detail and you will have no regrets.

Nothing is more practical than looking to your own backyard for centerpieces. Just cut limbs, spray paint white, add some moss and crystal birdies and you have an extravagant centerpiece for, as a bird may say, cheap cheap!
